    1. Airport pick-up ? why it matters on landing day

Most students underestimate how disorientating landing day is. You have been flying for 6-10 hours, you are carrying all your luggage, you do not yet have a local SIM, and you do not know which bus goes where.

An SM RIDE transfer removes the single most stressful logistical moment in your entire study-abroad journey. Our drivers know the student routes, monitor flight arrivals, and wait if you are delayed at immigration.

    • Driver tracks your flight ? if you land late, the driver adjusts
    • Meet in arrivals hall ? clear, pre-agreed meeting point
    • Fixed fare: no metered surprises when you are jet-lagged and unfamiliar
    • WhatsApp contact throughout ? message if you need to change anything at the gate
    • Luggage assistance: driver helps load large suitcases
    • Peak September arrivals: SM RIDE is busiest in late August / early September ? book early

    2. Which airports do we cover?

SM RIDE primarily serves Dublin Airport (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) for Ireland students and major London and UK airports for UK-bound students. Contact us for other cities and airports.

    • Dublin Airport (DUB): Terminal 1 and 2 arrivals ? most SM students land here
    • Cork Airport (ORK): for students at UCC, CIT and Cork-based colleges
    • Shannon Airport: for University of Limerick and mid-west Ireland students
    • London Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW): UK students ? confirm availability
    • Manchester Airport: for students at University of Manchester, MMU and regional colleges
    • Birmingham International: for Coventry, Aston and Birmingham-based students
    • Other airports: contact SM to confirm availability for your specific arrival

    3. Beyond landing day ? when else students book SM RIDE

SM RIDE is not just for airport arrivals. Students book transfers throughout the academic year for journeys where public transport is impractical, unsafe late at night, or just too stressful with heavy luggage.

    • Visa biometrics appointment: getting to UKVI or AVATS office on time matters
    • IRP / GNIB registration: Burgh Quay Dublin in peak September ? early morning runs popular
    • Campus open days: visiting a second university before your final decision
    • Accommodation move: end of year move from halls to private rental with multiple bags
    • Hospital / medical appointment: when you need to get somewhere reliably
    • Late-night safety run: after college events when public transport stops

    Guide · 04

    4. Public transport vs SM RIDE ? when to choose which

Public transport in Dublin, London, Manchester and most university cities is good. Students should use it for daily commuting. SM RIDE is for specific journeys where reliability, luggage, safety or timing make a taxi genuinely better value.

    • Daily commute: bus, Luas, DART, tube ? much cheaper for regular journeys
    • Airport with 2+ suitcases: SM RIDE ? luggage is impractical on buses
    • First arrival (no SIM, no data, unfamiliar): SM RIDE ? remove the uncertainty
    • Late night (after midnight): SM RIDE or official taxi ? not unlicensed cars
    • Visa appointment (must not be late): SM RIDE ? no missed connections
    • Group travel (3-4 students): share an SM RIDE ? often cheaper per person than bus with luggage

    6. Safety and trusted drivers
